September 29, 2023Celebrate Fall With Virginia Seafood!
The fall season has just begun, and it is an exciting time for Virginia Seafood. October is National Seafood Month so there are many events like the Chincoteague Oyster Festival, Poquoson Seafood Festival, and Holly Point Art & Seafood Festival taking place during this time. This is a good time to discover the variety of Virginia Seafood. November is Virginia Oyster Month, and this is best reflected in the Urbana Oyster Festival.
The Urbana Oyster Festival is a two-day event during the first weekend of November. Tens of thousands of people from around the state and even around the country travel to Urbanna for this festival to enjoy Virginia Oysters and other Virginia Seafood products. Locals and vendors alike have oysters prepared various ways, from raw, roasted, fried, fritters, and stewed oysters there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The town of Urbanna is also filled with many historical buildings helping showcase the impact and importance of Virginia’s commercial seafood industry.
Please continue supporting Virginia Seafood during this fall season. Virginia’s commercial watermen and women work throughout the year to provide us with fresh and local seafood. They will soon be facing cold and rough conditions for many months ahead. Continue to source Virginia Seafood in retail seafood markets, grocery stores, and restaurants.
